Prelude: The Road Brings Us Alive.

It almost feels like I live for the next moment to be on the road.

Three years ago when I first started travelling and Couchsurfing, the world all of a sudden unravelled in front of me. The road was where the beginnings of the world met the ends of the world. There I met those who dared, those who risked, and those who hungered to see more of it. If there is one calling that I believe in, it is the calling to understand, and to see for ourselves.

E and I have been close friends since we first met in college. Almost three years ago now when I first took up my backpack and told my friends I was staying at “random people’s” houses, I received blank stares and “don’t die on the road” sort of blessing. Of course, as I travel on, I know that to the seasoned traveller this is more like a joke. But if anything, this baby step seems to have taken me further and further.

Today E is also starting her first backpacking and couchsurfing journey. As I venture down to Mexico and she to Belgium, we thought it would be fun and interesting to write down the tidbits of life on our short journeys. Come back for more, you’ll always find surprises!
